The girls’ volleyball team defeated Notre Dame 3-0 at home tonight.
The Wolverines gained momentum with point scoring blocks and hits after trailing close behind for the majority of the first game. The teams continued to battle back and forth until the Wolverines took the first set 25-23. In the second set, the Wolverines went on a five point run and kept the lead to win the second set 25-21.
In the third set, the team started with high momentum and energy. They held the lead throughout the game, eventually pulling away to win 25-19.
This was the first match played at home and the team’s fifth win of the season.
Head coach Hayley Blanchard, new to the team this year, said the team did well.
“I think [the girls] came out of the gate firing right away,” Blanchard said on HWTV. “We have been talking a lot about their mental game and moving on to the next point and I think they did a great job responding to whatever Notre Dame threw at us.”
The team will play in two tournaments before their next home game Sept. 19.
