In its second consecutive home match, the girls’ tennis team defeated Beverly Hills High School with a score of 13-5.
The strong doubles lineup was most notable, sweeping the opposing team. Captain Lara Mikhail ’18 and partner Maddy Dupee ’20 only lost one game over the course of three matches.
“I think the doubles pairings were really strong today,” Mikhail said. “For some reason people today were really relaxed and didn’t feel much pressure so they weren’t afraid to go for their shots and try new strategies.”
After getting off to a good start and building a strong lead, the girls used their remaining matches to work on new strategies and elements of their games.
“Since we were winning easily our coach told us to try ‘I formation’ and it worked most of the time,” Mikhail said. “We also tried poaching more and serving and volleying and all the things that the majority of doubles players in our age division are afraid to do.”
This win marks the third in a row for the Wolverines, following wins against Immaculate Heart and Marlborough.
The squad will travel to Braemar Country Club to face Notre Dame on Sept. 28.
