The girls’ soccer team’s season has come to end following its 1-0 defeat tonight against Los Alamitos High School in the Semi-Final game of the CIF Regional Tournament. The squad finished with an overall record of 18-2-6.
The Wolverines allowed Los Alamitos to put up one point in the first half, a lead that the Griffins held on to for the duration of the game.
“Tonight’s game was a hard fought battle,” defender KK Bishop ’19 said. “Even though they scored early, we never let up, kept pressing and had some unfortunate calls against us. It was a close game against a very talented opponent.”
Tonight’s loss to Los Alamitos is the second time the Griffins have defeated the Wolverines in a semi-final match, the first time being in their 3-0 loss in the CIF Southern Section Division I Semi-Finals on Feb. 16.
Bishop spoke on her feelings toward tonight’s game being the last of the season.
“With the season coming to a close, I know every player is hurting because of how close we all became,” Bishop said. “This was such a special team and it’s hard saying goodbye. I was so lucky to be a part of such a special program and I’m so excited to watch the team in the next few years because I know they will do amazing.”
