The girls’ tennis team lost 10-8 in the quater-finals of the CIF playoffs to end its season. The Wolverines played the game on Nov. 11 on the road against Woodbridge High School. They previously defeated Brentwood 15-3 Nov. 6 and Valencia 12-6 Nov. 8 in playoff action. Kylie Azizzadeh ’21 reflected on the season as a whole.
“This season we grew exponentially as a team,” Azizzadeh said. “As the season went on, we bonded not only as teammates but as friends which also improved our match play and the way we worked together on the court. Although the match again Woodbridge didn’t go as we hoped and it was really close, we had a strong season overall.”
Isabella Rodriguez ’21 echoed a similar mindset.
“Despite our loss against Woodbridge, we had a really fun and successful season,” Rodriguez said. “We’re all really proud of how far we made it and our improvement as a team throughout the season. We did think that we would advance further in the tournament, but overall we are happy with the turnout.”
The squad finished its 2019 season with a 10-5 overall record with an 8-1 record in league play. This was a major improvement for the team, which finished the 2018 season with a 6-8 overall record.
