In its first round CIF playoff game Friday, Nov. 20, the varsity football team secured a 34-20 comeback victory at Compton Centennial High School
The Wolverines trailed 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, but they tied the game 14-14 going into halftime. At the end of the third quarter, the team led 21-20, and it scored 13 points in the final quarter to pull away.
The team will play at home under the lights on Ted Slavin Fiield on the night after Thanksgiving against undefeated Oaks Christian, ranked eighth in the state and 60th in the nation according to MaxPreps.
Oaks Christian is led by senior running back Malcolm Jones, who has scored over 100 touchdowns during his high school career and committed to UCLA.
The Lions are riding a 32 game winning streak.
