Field hockey beat Bonita High School 1-0 today on Homecoming, marking the team’s eighth straight win of the season to improve to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in league. The squad remains undefeated through two seasons and continues its win streak after last season’s undefeated 20-0 season.
“I think we did a really good job keeping up the intensity especially because Bonita was a really aggressive team,” forward Emily Kornguth ’20 said.
Last season, the Wolverines defeated Bonita in both matchups, winning 2-0 on Oct. 3 and 2-0 on Oct. 19.
Before the game, program head and head coach Erin Creznic said that Bonita would be tough opponent. However, the players came prepared today, shutting out the Bearcats.
Kornguth scored the team’s only goal assisted from center midfielder Rachel Brown ’20.
Forward and team captain Sydney Pizer ’19 said that she believes the team has been able to succeed this season because of the team’s family-like relationship and closeness.
“[Our closeness] allows us to have really fantastic communication,” Pizer said. “Also, all the girls work so hard at practice and in the games so I see us constantly adjusting and improving.”
The Wolverines are scheduled to play Glendora High School on Oct. 2 in a league matchup and Chaminade High School on Oct. 4 in a non-league matchup.
