Despite achieving a 4-1 record, the boys’ soccer team placed ninth in the South Torrance High School Tournament between Dec. 20 and Dec. 22.
“We experienced success and failure, we held our nerve against foul play, we battled and showed tremendous character,” head coach Kris Ward said.
The squad faced opposition from four non-league opponents in the tournament. After a penalty-shootout victory over Buena in its first match, the team fell to Palos Verdes in its second. The players finished the tournament by defeating Leuzinger and West in the consolation bracket. Alec Katz ’19 led the team in scoring with a pair of goals.
“The way we played, the resolve we displayed, I think all of HW would be proud of the way we represented the school,” Ward said.
