The boys soccer team beat Chaminade High School 7-0 on Friday at Ted Slavin Field to improve its record to 7-6-2 overall and 7-3-1 in league matches. It was also Senior Night for the Wolverines giving the team a chance to celebrate its senior class before the end of the season.

In the match, the team exploded offensively scoring 7 goals. Forward Connor Colao ’21 had a hat trick in the contest in the first half scoring the first three goals for the Wolverines. Forward Beck Walthers ’22 added a fourth goal in minute 28:14 of the second half. Leftback Milo Kiddugavu ’22 scored the fifth insurance goal in minute 19:36 of the second half, and Striker Jaydon Faal ’22 scored next off a cross-kick and scored again within 2 minutes to give the Wolverines the 7-0 victory.

The team also held up defensively shutting out Chaminade and dominating Chaminade in possession time, also keeping the ball continually on the offensive side of the pitch.

Leftback Ollin DeAntonio ’22 said he felt the seniors made a big impact this year towards the success of the squad.

“Our seniors are the leaders of the team and have been the key to our success in every aspect of the game this season,” said DeAntonio. “They anchor our defense, stabilize the midfield and create and score up front. We see them as role models for how we should play and perform. It was incredible to showcase their talent on our impressive win at Senior Night.”

Senior Night gives the team an opportunity to send the seniors off warmly. DeAntonio said he felt grateful for the chance to see the seniors off.

“After so many months of being isolated and not seeing our friends, to have the senior class be on campus and cheering on the team was a special experience,” said DeAntonio. “The seniors have been our leaders throughout the year, and Senior Night was the team’s moment to say thank you.”

The team will play its final game of the season on Monday at home against Alemany High School.
