Despite the loss of Bakari Bolden ’14, who is currently playing at USC, the boys’ golf team is 2-0 going into this afternoon’s matchup against Mission League rival Loyola at Encino Golf Course, with consecutive Mission League wins over Chaminade.

The squad is led by “five golfers to watch” named by the Daily News: Jeffrey Aronson ’15, Adrian Berger ’15, Tyler Graham ’15, Daniel Furman ’16 and Brandon Kewalramani ’17.

“I am trying, with the help of Tyler and Adrian to replicate the leadership that Bakari exemplified last year,” Aronson said. “He really pushed our team last year, and we are just trying to help our underclassmen as much as he helped us.”

In the Wolverines’ first match against the Eagles on March 10 at Woodland Hills Country Club, the team was led by Aronson, who shot 2-under-par, and Kewalramani, who shot even par. The final score of the match was 181-198.

In the rematch later in the week on March 12, Aronson followed up his initial performance by shooting 1-under-par at Encino Golf Course. Bray Caverly ’16 also shot even par to lead the Wolverines to victory.

“Our team worked really hard this offseason,” Aronson said. “This was the first year that we started doing morning lifts, and I think that it has really made a big difference in the first two matches. We are all playing well, and I hope that we can continue winning matches as we have so far.”

In the Daily News’ Southern Section Top 10 teams to watch, the Wolverines were ranked fifth, one spot ahead of Mission League rival Notre Dame.

After today’s matchup with Loyola, the team will play Viewpoint tomorrow in a non-league matchup at Woodland Hills Country Club.
