The Human Rights Watch Student Task Force hosted a screening of the film “Salam Neighbor” in Ahmanson Lecture Hall Monday. The task force also set up a booth offering information about the journey of Syrian refugees to raise awareness about the crisis.
The film follows two American filmmakers embedded within the Za’atari Refugee Camp along with 80,000 Syrian refugees.
The booth featured pictures of the refugees’ migration and was set up until 6th period.
“The message that we hope students have taken from the movie is that though these refugees are seemingly so far… they are people just like us with hopes and dreams,” Phoebe Sanders ’17 said in an email.
