In the 37th round of the Major League Baseball draft, the Chicago White Sox selected Northwestern University outfielder Leo Kaplan ’16 as the 1106th pick overall.
Kaplan has been an important player throughout his years at the school. He played on the varsity team as a sophomore, junior and senior, and contributed greatly to the nationally ranked team all three years. Recently, he hit a crucial RBI in the CIF-SS Division I semifinals, helping take the Wolverines to the finals, and stole a base with no throw during the finals.
The White Sox also selected Kaplan to their Area Code team in 2015. The Area Code Baseball Games showcase young baseball talent from across the country, and many players go on to be drafted.
Despite being drafted, Kaplan will study economics at Northwestern.
