The field hockey team traveled to Florida for their annual tournament and proceeded to sweep away the competition. The team remains without a loss through four games, having conceded no goals in the 4-0 pummeling of Clarkstown South High School.
“It was definitely intimidating going into the tournament as we had only played one game as a team before,” Lexi Block ’17 said, “In the past two days alone we’ve become much more of a unit both on and off the turf, and I know we’ll continue to improve as the year goes on. We’re already adjusting to each other’s playing styles and are playing our hardest throughout the entire game. Getting to spend so much time together and bond with our coaches has been a great way to kick off our season.”
The squad tied their first tournament game 3-3 and followed that performance with a 6-0 victory against Bishop McDevitt High School from Pennsylvania and a 0-0 tie against Mountain Lakes.
The Wolverines season record now stands at 3-0-2, and the team will look to carry the positive momentum back home into their non-league contest against Newport High School on Sept. 6. The team’s first league game is an away fixture against Bonita High School on Sept. 20.
