The Junior State of America club will host a voter registration drive throughout the school day and after school Oct. 17.
The deadline to register to vote in California is Oct. 24.
“We hope to register at least three dozen students at Harvard-Westlake and send many more home with information about how to register to vote, which they can then share with their family,” said Eleanor Halloran ’18, who is the co-president of JSA’s Harvard-Westlake chapter.
Volunteers will receive community service hours for their help.
“These drives are important because young people both vote and register to vote at significantly lower rates than the United States population as a whole, meaning that the interests of our generation tend to be underrepresented in government,” Halloran said.
