The girls’ soccer team played the first non-tournament game of the season on Dec. 6 against Oaks Christian.
Although there were no goals scored during the first half of the match, the Wolverines were able to win 1-0. The winning goal was supplied by Bridget Stokdyk ’18.
Defensively, the team was inexperienced for this game due to five injured players on the bench, requiring Stokdyk to be pushed up from playing center back to playing center mid.
After the win, the squad is looking forward to the rest of the season.
“I’m really happy that we were able to pull out the win because it was a rivalry game,” Olivia Bautista ’19 said. “I’m really excited to win more big games like this one with my team.”
The squad’s record currently stands at 4-1, and will resume play on Dec. 29 against Valencia.
