A bake sale will be held today and tomorrow to raise money for cafeteria employee Oscar Flores who is undergoing treatment for leukemia.
“All proceeds are going to Oscar to assist him in paying for things like prescription drugs that have a cumulative cost that is difficult to afford for most people,” Community Council member Johnny Felker ’14 said.
Community Council and the baseball team have teamed up to host the event and are selling assorted baked goods. Students are encouraged to bring goods that can be sold. The Bake a Difference club founded by Lili Cohen ’15 is also providing homemade goods to the event. Baseball hats specially made for supporters of the fight against leukemia are also being sold. The baseball team has previously held fundraisers to raise money for researching cures for leukemia.
“The bake sale was an initiative called for by the senior class on its senior Facebook group led by Community Council and the baseball team to team up to help a member of our own community suffering from the disease,” Felker said.
