Adam Black has stepped down from his role as boys’ and girls’ volleyball Program Head to become the head coach of the women’s indoor and sand volleyball programs at Moorpark College.
Black has been at the school since 2007, when he was brought on as girls’ volleyball Program Head. He led the girls’ volleyball team to the CIF-SS D1-A finals twice, winning once, as well as winning a Division III state championship.
Although Ryan Casey was the boys’ volleyball head coach last season, Black returned to that role this season to lead the squad into the second round of the CIF playoffs.
Furthermore, he also led the girls’ volleyball team into the first round of the playoffs this year, as well as the second round of CIF playoffs last season.
Black has made a lasting impact on boys’ volleyball team captain Colin Shannon ’17.
“He has been my coach since freshman year, and no coach has had a bigger impact on my ability than him,” Shannon said. “Over the years he has really pushed me to be the best player I can be, and it is nice to end [my Wolverines career] with a coach I have spent so much time with and have great respect for.”
The search for a new Volleyball Program Head is now underway.
