The boys volleyball team lost to Notre Dame High School 3-0 at home Friday, leaving the team with an overall record of  3-4 this season.

During the first set, the Wolverines struggled to defend against the Knights as they were outscored 25-17. The Wolverines did not improve in the second set either, as the squad lost by 12. In the third set, however, they were able to catch up and gain some momentum, only losing 25-20.

Despite this blow-out loss, outside hitter Ben Volokh ’22 said that he was proud of the way his team played.

“Our game went well. We lost to a good team, but we played good volleyball,” Volokh said. “We executed what we’ve been learning in practice well today, so it’s good to see everyone improving even if the scoreboard doesn’t exactly show it.”

This loss marks the second consecutive blow-out, 3-0 loss for the Wolverines, as they were defeated by St. Francis High School on April 27.

Despite losing more games than winning, Volokh said he is hopeful for the remainder of the season so long as the squad continues to improve.

If we continue to improve on scrappy plays and make sure we take care of plays that are in our control, we will be able to compete at a high level.

The Wolverines look to continue their season at home against Loyola High School on May 5.
