Council to develop new system for sign-ins

The Technology Council has begun working on an electronic sign-in and sign-out system for attendance. The program will be installed on an iPad at the security kiosk and students will be able to scan their IDs to sign in and sign out, math teacher and Tech Council faculty adviser Jason Fieldman said.

The new system will also facilitate record keeping and immediate head count in case of an emergency, Fieldman said.

“The end goal is to be able to have students skip [Attendance Coordinator Gabe] Preciado and go directly to any security kiosk and just scan their ID to sign out,” Technology Council member Branden Kim ’15 said.

Technology Council has already met with Preciado, who fully supports the project, Kim said.

The council doesn’t expect the new program to be tested and implemented until next year.

“I really hope that the program will not only create convenience for seniors leaving campus, but create efficiency for Preciado as well,” Head Prefect and Technology Council Henry Hahn ’14 said.
