Pitcher Sam Hliboki ’19 has committed to attend and play baseball at Vanderbilt University.
Hliboki said that the school has been his top choice since he watched the team win a national championship in person when he was twelve years-old. He said that he is also drawn to the school’s atmosphere and city, Nashville, Tennessee.
“As soon as I stepped on campus and met some of the people who I would be around, I fell in love with it,” Hliboki said. “I committed when I did because I knew in my heart that that was the place for me.”
Hliboki said that he would not be where he is right now without the help and support of coaches and teammates.
“My teammates and coaches are my family, and they make me better each and every day,” Hliboki said.
Coach Halpert said that he believes Hliboki will succeed in college because of his competitiveness
“[Hliboki’s] relentless desire for success and physical ability will make him successful wherever and in whatever he does,” Halpert said.
In April, Hliboki was the Daily News Boys Athlete of the Week and Los Angeles Daily News nominee for the SoCal Prep Legends Athlete of the Week. He was also named MVP of the IMG Classic in Bradenton, Florida this spring, with 12 strikeouts and no walks.
