Prefect Council announced the new policy regarding absences on the weekends of Coachella Music Festival. Students can either miss the Friday or Monday of the weekend as an excused absence.

The Upper School is mandating the use of phone caddies in the classroom for the fourth quarter to prevent further distractions from cellphones following an increase in Honor Board cases related to phone usage. The use of earbuds and headphones in the classroom will also be strictly prohibited.

5 student films win honors at Newport film festival

April 25, 2007

Five Harvard-Westlake student films were presented at the Newport Beach Film Festival on Sunday. Among the featured films were a music video and public service announcement by Lizzy Barcay ’07, “Semi-Formal,” by Josh Margolin ’07 and Sam Alper ’07, “The High School Martian Chronicles,” by Garrett Lee ’07  and “Broken,” co-produced by Danielle Quiat ’07 and Alex Wilk ’07. Wilk and Barcay were both presented with awards for cinematography.
