Field hockey wins league title on Senior Night

Needing either a win or a tie to capture a league championship, the field hockey team wrapped up the title with a victory over Glendora last night. The 1-0 home win brought the league champions’ record to 11-1-2 overall and 5-0-2 in league play.

Center mid-fielder Ketter Weissman ’09 scored the game’s only goal on a penalty corner. The team’s strong defense, led by Stacy Lee ’09 was able to keep the slim lead safe. Even though they only scored one goal the offense was able to create several scoring opportunities and keep constant pressure on the Glendora defense.

The win provided an even more special moment for the players because it came on Senior Night. The team is led by a group of seniors that have been playing together since seventh grade.

“This game and this season were so memorable and amazing,” said Right Defender Brianna Sommer ’09.

The team opens CIF playoffs at home on Monday against Fountain Valley.
