Boys’ tennis wins first two matches

    By Austin Lee

In its first two matches of the season, the boys’ tennis team defeated Brentwood 13-5 on Tuesday and defeated Notre Dame 18-0 on Wednesday.

The team won six of nine sets in singles against Brentwood, with Matt Wagner ’11, Jackson Frons ’12, and Jeffrey Bu ’12 winning two sets each. In addition, the team won seven out of the nine double sets played, with the doubles one team of Harrison Kalt ’13 and Jamison West ’12 winning all three of their matches.

“It was nice the boys experienced a good opening win of the season at our new courts against Brentwood,” Head Coach Chris Simpson said. “We looked much deeper than their team and the score certainly showed it.”

In the game against Notre Dame, the top three players of the team, Wagner, Frons, and Bu, did not play, and the top players of the JV team were allowed to play in their stead, but the Wolverines still managed to win all of the 18 sets.

The team will be playing against Palisades on Friday.
