Scott Becker ’05 spoke in Rugby Theater during Activities period about entrepreneurship.
Becker sold his startup company, Invite Media, to Google for $70 million in June 2010.
Becker spoke about creating his company and how Harvard Westlake prepared him for becoming an entrepreneur, aided by a slideshow.
Stressing that everything today is “built by companies,” Becker described how entrepreneurs are young people trying to fix problems they see around them.
Becker did acknowledge that many start-ups do fail, listing some of his earlier failed projects, such as a dating site and an earlier form of Invite Media which, instead of selling ads, created video advertisements for companies.
Becker also answered questions from students who posted on the Facebook group.
