Coming off a three-goal loss to rival Loyola, the boys’ water polo squad headed to San Jose’s Bellarmine High School this past weekend for the team’s third and final tournament of its season.

The Wolverines fell to Menlo High School on Friday in their first match of the tournament but bounced back to win their final three matches with help from freshman phenom Morio Saito ’15, captain Alec Zwaneveld ’12 and goalie Rye Newman ’13.

Zwaneveld and Saito scored eight of the boys’ 13 goals in their victory over Foothill and Newman combined for 15 saves in the team’s two-game stretch on Saturday to add a win against rival Cathedral.

The Wolverines took ninth place in the tournament and sit at 15-8 overall heading into their final match of the season this Wednesday against a strong Notre Dame squad who has only lost twice this season.
