Philomathean Club to attend movie screening in Hollywood

By Michael Sugerman

Members of the Philomathean Club will go to a screening of “Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” at the Egyptian Theater Friday May 18 at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s about this guy who, in the heat of the Cold War, goes crazy and launches a nuclear attack on Russia,” club member Greg Lehrhoff ’14 said. “The movie is really about the struggle to eradicate that threat.”

The event is open to all Harvard-Westlake students and their guests, said club president Henry Hahn ’14 in an email to Philomathean members. Students should email Hahn to reserve tickets, which cost $9.

Cinema Studies teacher Ted Walch will lead a subsequent discussion about the movie Monday, May 21, in Ahmanson Lecture Hall.
