Derick Newton ’14 led the boys’ basketball team with 31 points in its 95-88 victory over Santa Monica on Monday to advance to the 2nd round of the annual Fairfax tournament.

Mike Sheng ’14 followed Newton with 24 points, sinking 15 of 16 from the free throw line.

The Wolverines, who are 11-1 in summer competition thus far, also showcased 6–foot–7 Nick Medavoy ’15, who made his debut in the matchup.

The boys will play Wednesday against Mission League opponent Chaminade, who upset top-seeded St. John Bosco 73-65 on Monday.
