Runner Amy Weissenbach ’12 will not be competing in the London Olympic Games later this summer.
She qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. after running a personal record 2:02.04 in the 800-meter event to win the State Championship in 2011.
Weissenbach finished fifth out of eight runners in her heat Friday at the first round of the trials. Her time of 2:06.46 in the first round of qualifying placed her 25th out of the 32 total runners vying for 16 spots to advance to the semifinals.
Less than three seconds separated Weissenbach from the 16th place runner.
Weissenbach filed a protest after being impeded by a runner in the race, but her appeal was denied.
