By Allana Rivera

A student control group consisting of Upper School foreign language students who have studied abroad will be tested on cognitive abilities in September and May by the School Year Abroad research program.

SYA will compare these results to the students who plan to spend the upcoming year living abroad.

The tests are 90 minutes long and aim to measure the language immersion program’s effect on creativity and growth.

So far 11 students from various foreign language departments have volunteeredfor the research project.
