Boys Soccer Opens Season With Win Against Bell Gardens

By Charlton Azuoma

The boys’ soccer team received eight cards as they defeated the Bell Gardens Lancers tonight, 1-0.

Center midfielder Adam Wininger ’12 scored in the closing minutes of the first half in the one goal match.

“I think our set pieces were good and we played well despite the officiating,” forward Jack Temko ’14 said.

The win makes for the team’s first victory of the season, and an overall record of 1-0. The team plays its next match at Campbell Hall on Friday, and its home opener against West Ranch next week.

“I think we will possess the ball more and more as the season progresses and we will get better and better, especially when Alex Goodwin ’12 gets healed up and when [Charlie] Porter ’12 gets back,” Temko added.
