Girls’ water polo finished 3rd at Mistletoe Tournament

By Luke Holthouse

A sudden-death overtime loss to Crescenta Valley prevented the girls’ water polo team from winning the fifteenth annual Mistletoe tournament this weekend at Thousand Oaks High School. The 6-5 loss to the eventual winners of the tournament was the lone blemish for the Wolverines this weekend, as they beat all four of their other opponents.

They began the tournament with an 18-4 win over Morro Bay and 14-5 win over Righetti on Friday. Two-meter forward Morgan Hallock ’13 scored six goals in both wins. Yesterday, the team beat Lousiville 13-2 before its loss to Crescenta Valley, but then answered with a 13-9 win over Rio Mesa.

With a final record of 4-1, the Wolverines finished in third place at the tournament.

The Wolverines’ next games are at the Costa Mesa Tournament this Winter Break. The tournament at Costa Mesa High School begins Dec. 27 and ends Dec. 29. It is the last pre-season tournament before the Wolverines open up regular season play at St. Lucy’s Jan. 4.
