Male singers from both campuses

Male singers from the Upper School will accompany middle school students in singing three songs at the Middle School Winter Choral Concert tomorrow. The choir will sing three songs at the concert: “Cantate Domino,” “Bidi Bom” and “The Boar’s Head Carol.” This will be the first choral concert in the new Bing Performing Arts Center at the middle school campus.

Members of Wolverine Chorus and male members of Chamber Singers had a two-hour rehearsal at the Middle School in addition to the practicing that has taken place in their own classes.

“It is a great way to revisit the Middle School and get to know the other classes,” Ben Platt ’11, a member of Chamber Singers, said.

For the last seven years, the male singers from the Upper School have gone down to the Middle School to perform.

In addition, middle school students also sing with upper school students at choral festivals, performing arts teacher Rodger Guerrero said.

Besides performing at the concert, the upper school male singers performed in front of the whole Middle School at their Monday assembly.

“It’s an amazing sight, seeing and listening to 65 seventh through 12th grade boys singing together,” Guerrero said.

“You get to see where they begin, and what they vocally grow into all on one stage. And it’s always important that we continue to make connections, both via curricular and extra-curricular offerings, between students at our two campuses. It helps to make transitioning a piece of cake.”
