The boys lacrosse team beat Crespi Carmelite High School 11-6 on April 22 adding another win to its overall record of 4-1.

During the first quarter the team pulled ahead with 4 goals. First, midfielder Ian Han ’21 had a top left shot into the goal, then midfielder Matthew Liu ’22 scored the next two goals with similar top left shots, and to end the first quarter 4-0 attacker Owen Hudgins ’21 scored on a set play.

Hudgins said that since the first game the team is getting better and that because each player is committed it has made the season more enjoyable.

“Each time we play our team is getting stronger and more unified,” Hudgins said. “From the start when we won 10-7, against Culver City, and followed with two more wins our power and commitment to play our best has really shown in each player.”

In the second quarter the team advanced its lead to 5-0 with another goal from Hudgins in the last minute of the first half. Crespi started to score more in the second half but the Wolverines controlled the pace and the scoring throughout the entire contest, so the Wolverines ended up winning.

Hudgins said he is proud of the team’s momentum and looks forward to continuing to play.

“I think we are all just having a ton of fun this season which is really fun to see, Hudgins said. “Our momentum is very strong right now and I feel like if we keep focusing on the fundamentals we will keep achieving this same level of success.”

The squad will face off next against Chaminade High School on April 27 as they look to continue their winning streak.
