Girls’ Golf Team starts season strong

The girls’ golf team has continued its strong season and is currently 3-1. This record includes a win of 214-227 against Notre Dame High School, the only school to beat the team last year.

The team’s single loss was to Alemany by a 2-stroke margin.

The Wolverines also finished in first place during their Mid-Season Tournament at Balboa Park Golf Course. In this tournament, Josie Baker ’18 shot even with a score of 38, and team captain Lauren Song ’16 went 4 over par, shooting 42.

“I have full confidence that our team will have a very strong finish to the season,” said Emma Kateman ’17. “As long as we keep playing how we’ve been playing, we’ll have only positives in our future.”

The goal is to beat last year’s record, Baker said.

“My main goals for the rest of the season are to make it to the individual CIF Finals, which is one step further than I made it last year, and for our team to win the Mission League,” Baker said. “We came in second last year and this time I think that we have a really good shot at first.”

The team will play Flintridge Sacred Heart High School Oct. 6 and Louisville High School Oct. 13, before starting its CIF season Oct. 19 at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.
