Varsity Field Hockey Loses in Semifinals

By David Burton

The varsity field hockey team lost in the semifinals of the CIF playoffs to Newport High School on Wednesday. Coming off of a win against Marina High School on Monday, the Wolverines, at the end of regulation, sent the scoreless game into overtime.

Although the clock expired in overtime, field hockey rules allowed Newport to play out their corner position. In 12 seconds after the end of overtime, Newport scored the first and winning goal of the game. The final score was 1-0 in Newport’s favor.

The Wolverines will be playing today for third place against Huntington Beach High School.
