By Luke Holthouse

Two wins separate the girls’ water polo team from their second straight CIF title following the team’s victory over Sunny Hills today.

The Wolverines beat Sunny Hills 13-5 in the quarterfinals of CIF playoffs at Fullerton Junior College. The Wolverines’ opponent in the semifinal is to be announced, but the game will be played at the William J. Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine.
The Wolverines had a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter, but extended their lead by five goals in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 9-3 lead. Sunny Hills outscored the Wolverines 2-1 in the third quarter, making the score 10-5, but the Lancers were shutout in the final period of play and the Wolverines finished with an eight-point victory.
