Coming off its first losing regular season in over ten years, the boys’ varsity basketball team cleaned its slate as it opened the first round of CIF Playoffs with a double-digit win, defeating Costa-Mesa 64-48.

Forward Derick Newton ’14 was the Wolverines’ top scorer with 16 points in the team’s first game of the postseason.

Entering the CIF Division 4AA bracket via an at-large playoff bid, the Mission League eight-seed Wolverines will return home for their first home playoff game of the year to face Maranatha, a two-seed out of the Olympic League, in the second round.
