Silent Study moved to Chalmers Lounge during free blocks

Prefect Council announced Oct. 31 the upper school campus’s temporary Silent Study will be relocated from the Learning Center to the Chalmers Lounge in a school-wide email. Prefect Council said the move was motivated by the popularity of Silent Study during free blocks, given that the Chalmers Lounge is a larger space than the Learning Center.

Due to the school’s ongoing renovation of Mudd Library, Silent Study has been transferred elsewhere since October. It is currently held in Seaver 205 during breaks.

Dean of Students Jordan Church said the administration hopes the Chalmers Lounge will provide enough space for students to work during their free blocks.

“We recently reviewed how things were going and decided that Seaver 205 is working well and has an ideal amount of space,” Church said. “We felt that the Learning Center was not large enough to meet the student demand, so we are now trying out the Lounge as the next option.”
