Mock Trial team attends first in-person competition since pandemic

The Mock Trial team attended its first in-person, post-pandemic competition at the Stanley Mosk Court House on Nov. 2.

Student leader Camille Weinstein ’24 said the team has been preparing since September and was excited after such a long hiatus.

“The team has been working super hard on writing openings and closings, practicing our public speaking skills and learning how all the mock trial rules work, ” said Weinstein. “[The leaders] have been working hard to integrate the new members of the team.”

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, Jessica C. Kronstadt ’00 ruled in favor of the defense, finding the defendant, Tobie Clark, played by Dennet Stibel ’25, not guilty. The team awaits the scorer’s decision to know if they will move on to the next round.

The defense team, led by Attorneys Alex Lee ’24, Camille Weinstein ’24 and Ariel Soler-Camiel ’24, won the case. The prosecution team, led by Assistant Arts and Entertainment Editor Shiara Navarro ’25, Sara Segil ’25 and Luke Madden ’24, will compete at the Los Angeles County Mock Trial on Nov 8.
