The girls’ water polo team defeated Oaks Christian at home in their first league match Dec. 1, providing a strong start to the preseason.
The team defeated the Lions 10-8, with Camille Oswald ’17 leading the attack with 6 goals. Oswald opened the scoring in the first quarter, contributing to the Wolverine’s 4-2 lead at halftime. Oswald also had two long distance goals in the second half, firing one from 10 meters out and a another from mid-pool. Pria Pant ’18 and Beata Hitterer ’19 added 2 goals to give the squad a 2 goal advantage at the end of the game.
The squad did not get to take advantage of new player Paige Thompson ’17, as CIF rules state that transfer students are ineligible to play for 30 days.
The team will look to improve and continue winning games, and eventually take the mission league title this season for the 21st year in a row.
