Girls’ swimming team beats Flintridge

The girls’ swim team beat Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy today, finishing 117-58, but the boys’ swim team lost to Loyola 123-62.

Despite the loss, swimmer Adam Copses ’20 said that the team is going to prepare for their next meet.

“It’s a tough loss,” Copses said. “But now we need to focus on our next meet and get better from there.”

The boys are now 2-1 in league and the girls are 2-0 in league after both teams finished in first place in the Justin Carr Memorial Friday Night Lights Classic on Friday.

Swimmer Eve Hookstratten ’20 said that she was pleased with the girls’ performance today.

“I think we have gotten off to a great start so far this season,” Hookstratten said. “We swam very well and we were cheering each other on which I think helped with our success.”

For the boys, swimmer Paul LeClerc ’18 finished with 10 points and swimmer Adam Copses ’20 finished with nine points. LeClerc placed second in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay and 100-yard backstroke but came in first in the 100-yard fly. Copses finished in first place in the 500-yard freestyle.

For the girls, swimmer Lee Nichols ’20, swimmer Angelica Sih ’20 and Hookstratten finished with 12 points. Nichols placed first in the 200-yard medley relay, 100-yard fly, 500-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Wolverines will play next on Tuesday against Notre Dame.
