Football wins Homecoming game by 8

    By Luke Holthouse

A late interception from Cameron Komisar ’12 wrapped up a 39-31 win for Harvard-Westlake on Homecoming over El Camino Real. Komisar’s interception inside of the Wolverines’ 20 yard line with under 10 seconds to play sent a packed Homecoming crowd streaming onto the field at the end of the game.

“I saw it coming and I bit up on the slant and I got lucky that they threw it,” Komisar said.

Defensive back Charlie Porter ’12 said that although the defense struggled against the balanced run attack from El Camino, the key to victory was keeping them off the scoreboard during the second quarter when the Conquistadors went to more of a passing offense.

Quarterback Chad Kanoff ’13 threw for four touchdown passes hitting Clinton Hooks ’13, Julian Shabahang ’14, Chris Sebastian ’13 and Correy King ’13. King also added a touchdown on the ground.

The Wolverines improved to 4-1 on the season. They have a bye week next week but open league play when they play at St. Francis on Oct. 14.
