Despite being undermanned, the boys’ tennis team opened the first round of the CIF-SS DI playoffs with a 16-2 win against Santa Barbara on May 10, the squad’s Senior Night.

Every senior except for Matt Bergmann ’17 missed the first round of the match because they were taking the AP Macroeconomics exam. However, the team’s depth shined as the underclassmen stepped up and held the Dons off until the seniors arrived.

Adam Sraberg ’17, Jed Kronenberg ’17 and Theo Velaise ’17 went undefeated in their matches as the wolverines cruised to an easy victory.

“Today was a strong start to our CIF campaign,” captain Jacob Tucker ’17 said. “I’ve been here with the team three times now and twice we’ve come close but been a few points short. I feel like now is our time.”

The squad takes on Northwood for round two Friday.
