Head of Admission and Enrollment Aaron Mieszanski will leave the school to join executive search firm Spencer Stuart after this school year. The school recently began an accelerated search process to fill the Head of Admission and Enrollment role, welcoming current employees to apply.

Mieszanski said he has been working in admissions for 14 years, so he decided to step into the next chapter of his professional life.

“I have loved my time at [the school],” Mieszanski said. “It’s been an amazing four years having been here, and I still feel so lucky that I got a chance to be part of this community and to be someone for the last four years who has been responsible for building it. An opportunity presented itself, and it was one for me that seemed really exciting to jump into that still allows me to be connected to an industry and a world that I really love, but do something a little different.”

Mieszanski said he will miss the environment of a school and that it will feel different to work with only adults all day.

“I’ll miss the people [at the school],” Mieszanski said. “That [includes] the combination of my colleagues in the Admission Office and the kids that we get to work closely with, as well as the other faculty and staff and all of the kids that I get to meet along the way to help them learn about opportunities [here]. That will be different for me because ever since I graduated from college I’ve worked at a school, so it will be different to just be around adults all the time.”

Senior Student Ambassador Co-Chair Li Yam Kreiz ’22 said Mieszanski’s innovation during the pandemic helped the student ambassador team with Zoom events and recorded tours of the school.

“Over COVID, we had a lot of changes that had to be taken into consideration, like in-person tours and different events when perspective families would come visit,” Kreiz said. “[Mr. Mieszanski] really took a creative outlook.”

Assistant Director of Admission Julia Kraft said the admission team will not be the same without Mieszanski, as he has made a lasting impact on the school.

“Mr. Mieszczanski has been a great Head of the Admission Office for the last four years, and we will miss his leadership, guidance, creativity and expertise,” Kraft said. “During his time here, he’s streamlined our process, brought us fully online, guided us through admissions during two years of the pandemic and ensured that we welcome wonderful students and families to Harvard-Westlake.

Kraft said the admission team started has begun their search for a replacement online.

“In terms of finding the next Head of Admission and Enrollment, the role has been posted,” Kraft said. “We have already begun interviews and hope to find out next Head of Admission and Enrollment this spring.”
