Field hockey shutout Bonita 2-0 to continue their undefeated season.
This is the team’s eighth shutout and ninth win this season. Despite having momentum in the season, team captain Erin Lee ’18 said the team was cognizant of Bonita’s skill going into the game.
“Last year we were able to take their title but it took us a sudden death overtime to beat them and it was the most nerve wracking thing ever,” Lee said.”We went in believing that if we kept doing what we’ve been doing this season [that] we’d win.”
The two goals were scored by Rachel Brown ’20 and Nicole Bahar ’18.
Team captain Mia Reilly ’18 agreed that the game was hard-fought but acknowledged the Wolverine dominance of the game.
“They are a very physical team so that was hard but we were still able to control most of the game,” Reilly said.
Left midfielder Isabella Huang ’19 acknowledged the great communication and strong team spirit of the Wolverines as driving factors of the team’s continued success.
“On the field we communicate a lot and we’re much better at passing to each other by the end of the game,” Huang said. “We had some great ‘give and go’s too. I feel what makes our team so strong is the great dynamic we have. We’re all super close and we’re all friends.”
The team plays Chaminade on Thursday.
“I feel confident in our team,” Huang said. “As a whole, we’ve all been improving so much individually and as a team. I’m so excited to see how this turns out!”
