Baseball team wins series against Crespi High School

The baseball team won its series against Crespi High School 3-0 on April 30 on the road. 

On April 27, the squad played the first game of the series, winning 6-0. This game continued a winning streak for the Wolverines, and it was also the third consecutive game where the squad didn’t allow the opponent to score. The team started the game off slow offensively but its hitting improved throughout the game. 

On April 28, the squad won 8-7 in extra innings. Pitcher Tommy Bridges ’23 was the starting pitcher and pitched the first 4 innings of the game. Harvard Westlake was down 5-7 in the bottom of the 7th inning when with two outs, George Cooper ‘21 hit a triple, sparking a run for the Wolverines. The team then scored two runs and tied up the game to end the inning. In extra innings,  outfielder Joe Grode ’21 hit a walk-off single to win the game. 

Finally, on April 30, the squad finished the series with a 12-9 victory. The Wolverines are on a six-game win streak, sweeping its series against Loyola High School.

The squad’s overall record is currently 14-4 and 7-1 in league games. The team has a long break before its next series against Alemany High School starting on May 11. The squad will finish out their season with series against both Chaminade High School and Notre Dame High School.
