Team wins three straight after dropping opening three

The girls’ basketball team notched its third straight win on a turn around jump shot by Lauren Lapesarde ’17 with five seconds left in the game. The shot lifted the girls to a 44-42 victory over Ribit Academy in the Burroughs Tournament Wednesday.

After a seven-point loss to El Camino in their season opener, the girls lost their next two games to Long Beach Poly and West in the Redondo Tournament. The squad’s first win came against Palisades, as the girls held the Dolphins to 25 points in their 20-point win. The second game of the winning streak was against Millikan, where the team won its first close game in a 58-53 victory.

The team will try to continue its winning streak in its next Burroughs Tournament game today at 4:30 p.m.
