Prefect Council hosted Field Day on Dec. 5. Students went to Ted Slavin Field during lunch to participate in activities including carnival games, an obstacle course and a relay race and a surfboard simulator. The winner of the relay race and their grade was able to purchase food before the other grades. This year’s food options included pizookies, pizza and tacos.
Junior Prefect Charlotte Im ’27 said she hoped students would be able to de-stress by participating in Field Day and interacting with their peers.
“Field Day is one of the many community building events Prefect Council plans, but I love Field Day because of the way everyone is able to root and cheer for people in their grade and spend some good time with friends on the field,” said Im. “This time in the year is just so stressful, and I’m hoping that taking the seriousness out of school for even a short period of time with relay races and food outside will help remedy this.”
Kaylee Kim ’27 said she enjoyed Field Day because she could relax and enjoy the variety of activities offered.
“The weeks leading up to winter break always tend to be the most stressful with a lot of homework and assessments, so it was nice to have a brief break during the school day for students to relax and recharge,” said Kim. “There were also a lot of different activities available, which made Field Day even engaging.”
Community Council member Angela Ren ’26, who helped operate the surfboard simulator, said she was happy to have contributed to this fun and positive cause.
“I was mostly there to help out,” Ren said. “This fundraiser was for the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation, which specializes in ocean therapy. I’m glad to have helped with this opportunity.”
