Riemer will head foreign language department

Spanish teacher Margot Riemer is set to begin her new position as foreign language Department chair this year.

Riemer, who is entering her 21st year of teaching as a Harvard-Westlake Spanish teacher, accepted the position after Latin teacher Paul Chenier announced he was stepping down as department chair and returning to teaching full time.

Riemer has taught Spanish I, II, III, III Honors, IV and AP Spanish Language.

“I feel like I’m surrounded by very good teachers who inspire me to do my best work and I feel privileged to be a part of the academic energy,” Riemer said.

“She’s the right person because she is very organized, student-centered, a great colleague, and always cares about everyone’s well-being,” foreign language teacher Roser Gelida said. “There really could not be a better choice.”
