    Boys’ tennis to face University in CIF Finals

    Led by a solid doubles showing, the boys’ tennis team advanced into Divsion I CIF Finals with an 11-7 victory over Palos Verdes Tuesday.

    The score remained tied at the end of the first round, 3-3, but the Wolverines took the lead in the second round, winning two singles and two doubles sets, gaining a lead 7-5 which they widened in the final round with another four sets won.

    In singles sets, the team won four of nine sets, with Jackson Frons ’12 and Jeffrey Bu ’12 both defeating Palos Verdes’ singles 2 and 3 players.The team took seven of nine sets in doubles, led by the pair of Matthew Wagner ’11 and Harrison Kalt ’13, who swept all three of their sets.

    The team will be facing University in the CIF Finals on June 1 at the Claremont Tennis Club. Earlier this year, the Wolverines lost 14-4 to University.
