Prefect Council hosted the Activities Fair on Ted Slavin Field Sept. 19. Students were able to see new clubs and sign up for clubs ranging from affinity groups, community service, academic and hobby oriented clubs.
“ Junior Prefect Charlotte Im ’27 said the rain was an unforeseen issue.”
“ We started planning that Activities Fair about a month and a half ago,” Im said. “We send out the applications and we work really closely with Upper School Plant Manager Edward Wormald on the setup and the day. Something that was kind of unexpected was that it was raining that day. It was able to stop raining right before the fair happened.”
Co-Leader of Women in STEM Rebecca Lee ’26 said she hopes Activities Fair helped to widen the range of participants in her club.
“ Some goals for this year are to bring in more guest speakers and potentially do more community service and outreach related activities,” Lee said. “The activities fair helps a lot to spread the word about our club, especially to sophomores who are new to the Upper School and may be interested in future leadership positions.”
Co-Founder of Formula 1 Club Riley Romans ’27 said she loves how clubs bring the community together and bond over shared interests.
“I love how we are allowed to make clubs based on whatever our interests are,” Romans said. “This will be a fun way to hang out and talk about racing. Seeing so many new clubs start up this year makes it feel like there’s something for everyone, and I think that’s what makes our campus community so exciting.”
Lucie Benoit ’27 said she joined clubs that had interesting tables or good food during the Activities Fair.
“ I joined a lot of clubs during the fair,” Benoit said. “Off the top of my head, SASA had a really interesting club. They always have samosas, which encourage me to go to their club. I went to the Formula 1 Club too. I thought that table was really cool. It was different and new, not something you always see. I think those were my two favorites.”
Im said she hopes that students are able to connect with students that they would not have otherwise through clubs.
“ I really hope that people were able to find others with similar interests,” Im said. “Especially since this campus is so big and everybody’s so busy all the time. I really hope that people just get to find people that they wouldn’t have normally gotten to know.”
